Tecmo Bowl. The greatest game ever made. A football game that uses 9 instead of 11 players on the field at all times. When it was created they only had an NFLPA license but not an NFL license, so the teams names are not the same. Instead of Chicago Bears it is the Chicago Penguin Kings(not the actual name but thats the picture on their helmet), and all the cities are the same, as are the players. There are also only 12 teams in the game, the 12 that made the playoffs the year the game was made. The clock is only 1:30, but it stops on every play, everything else is the same, 4 quarters, 4 downs, 100 yard field, and yes, even the same gay overtime set-up the NFL is so fond of. There are 3 modes: 1 Player, 2 Player and Coach. 1 player is good, face the computer in an 11 week season playing every team once and the teams getting much better as you go along. Coach is a 2 player mode. You simply pick plays against each other, it is alright. The best feature of this game is the 2 player mode. Going head to head against another opponent in this game is the best video game experience ever.

The game play is what makes this game so awesome. There are only 4 plays in this game, each team has its own set of 4 and you pick one of them to run every play. The D can only pick one of those 4 plays aswell, and if you pick the play that the Offense picked then that play will go nowhere, so picking a play is huge. Also, there are no fumbles in the game, no matter what a player simply cannot fumble, its just like that. This is actually a good rule since there would be a lot of going crazy and breaking stuff if one of your players fumbled in a key situation in a game. For Interceptions a defender has to be right on the WR, if he is on him when the ball gets their it is a pick every time, if he isint then there is no chance of it being a pick. Also there arent really any incomplete passes, if the QB passes to the WR and he is not covered, it is complete, no drops by the WR.  There is the odd time when a pass will land a couple feet away from a WR, this usually only happens on certain plays though. This may all sound very strange but it actually works out for the best. The odd rules are probably what makes the game so damn great.
